On behalf of the fraternity, I would like to welcome you to the website of the University of Nairobi School of Law, Kisumu Campus. The School occupies a unique position: it is the only law school in the western part of Kenya, including western Rift Valley. It is situated barely two kilometres from the shores of the great Lake Victoria and provides you with a clear view of the Nandi and Kiboswa Hills.

The School has a vibrant community of active students who engage in both academic and co-curricular activities, and experienced and committed academic and support staff. The four-year, eight-semester, academic programme offers students both lecture-room and experiential learning in a variety of contemporary subjects that prepare students for a future in the bar, the bench, the private sector, public service and academia. Students are advised to be open to the challenge of new ideas and ways of doing things.

Besides, the School offers to students support in terms of mentorship, guidance and counselling, opportunities for externships, information and communication technology, reading and reference materials, and health services. Our students have opportunities to interact with students from other schools and faculties of the University of Nairobi Kisumu Campus with whom they share facilities, services and co-curricular activities. Students are advised that, as they embark on their learning in this environment of academic and social freedom, personal discipline and adherence to the rules and regulations governing the School will serve them well.

The School currently has eleven permanent and three part-time academic and seven support staff. The academic staff have knowledge and skills in a variety of areas of law and related disciplines, and varied learning and teaching methodologies. The support staff offer dedicated administrative services which facilitate the academic and co-curricular programmes. The staff enjoy facilities which include furnished offices, information and communication technology equipment for research and teaching, a library with a large variety of reading and reference materials in both print and electronic form, and health services. Staff also enjoy collegiality and democracy as they fully participate in decision-making in matters concerning the School, based on the free flow of relevant information that characterizes the governance of the School.

You are welcome to experience the spirit of a vibrant, forward-looking School of Law as you navigate our web-site!
